Witch WinXP printerdriver should I use with CUPS- PDF Print
« on: December 10, 2004, 08:32:38 AM »
Hi all you great people,

I installed CPUS on my SME 6.0.1 using this howto:

http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/rvandenaker/beta/e-smith-cups/documentation/howtos/cups-pdf-printer.html

Worked like a charm – test page was made in the ibay, But witch printerdriver should I use on my WindowsXP sp2 client?

Tried with a postscript driver, and the PDF was also made, but it took more or less 1 minut?

Any suggestions? I need a faster solution, as I’m planning to set up a Network PDF printer for 30 users.

Cheers

Use a printer with windows-built-in driver support so you don't have to install an additional driver. I've chosen HP Color Laser Jet 8500 PS. It takes about 5 seconds for a 1 MB medium complex color pdf in "monitor view" quality on a SME PIII 1000 with 256 MB Ram, which is doing some other things, too.
