hello everybody. first, excuse me for my poor level in english.
I use a sme server 6.0.1 at home that is the server of a pc using windows XP SP1. I want to allow someone who have window XP SP2 to connect to my network, so I use the PPTP connection.
On the server manager, I allow him to do that and he make a new connection that he configure as seen in this document : http://www.domain-logic.com/support/secure_tunnel_XP.htm

So we did and he succed to be connected, he has got an IP given by my sme server (192.168.82.250) and we succed when we ping each other ! He has also his internet connection. We see each other with net use. BUT WE CANT see our shared document because we don't have "autorization" :-/ Our firewall were disabled !! even the XP firewall
It's also impossible for us to play game using a lan (total war, battle for middle earth) becaue we don't see each other !

I don't understand at all, please help ! os anybody has alreday such a thing ?

thank you in advance !

 :-D

Once you have your pptp connection. Rightclick on My network connections and search for the computer you are looking for. Use the IP number or the computername.
Then it will ask for a username and password with which the remote user can logon to the shares.

Goods luck,
Martijn

On XP, right click on the VPN icon and select properties.
Click on the Networking tab
Click on the Settings button
"Enable LCP Extensions" should be checked
"Enable Software Compression" should be checked
"Negotiate multi-link for single link connection should be checked

I posted this in response to a similar question on 30 Jan 2005.
