Bug reports are for base installs, aren't they? I've often enough seen answers from you stating that for a fact. Contrib problems should be discussed with the contributor. You're right, too, I might add!
This was clearly an attempt to go beyond, copying gregswallow's experiment with an upgrade to Centos 4, as it were.
I can tell you this much if you're really interested:
The install rests on two Sata-drives (Raid1), one a 120Gb and the other a 160Gb.
Therefore I suspect a hardware problem, again nothing with which to bother you nor the 'bugwatchers'.
Perhaps I'll make another attempt when I can get my hands on a new 160Gb disk.
In the meantime I'll play around with 3.4 a bit.
I think gregswallow has come to that conclusion too, even though his experience differs from mine.
