What kind of redhat is centhos41 compatible with? Or must I compile it?

Hmm, it is not that I am lazy, it is that I do not understand.
Centhos says:

CentOS-4
CentOS-4 is a freely distributable OS built from the source at:
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/enterprise/4/en/os/i386/SRPMSBefore building the OS, non-free packages are altered. Non-free packages would include those encumbered with a non-redistributable copyright or trademark.
CentOS-4 supports x86 (i586 and i686), x86_64 (AMD64 and Intel EMT64), ia64, ppc, alpha, s390, and s390x architectures (The ppc and alpha architectures are currently BETA). Updates are distributed via YUM repositories (i386 only updates are also available via apt).

The package I am trying to build is available as Redhat 7.
I suppose redhat 7 is not the same as redhat enterpise 4 or fedora core xxxx?
I am a bit swamped with all these different versions.
I would like to make an howto using RRDtool and collectd, but find it hard to make rpm's of it. So it would be a lot easier if I could get those rpm's somewhere. But then you need to know exactly what fits.
I have built these packages, but that is not really easy for an howto. And yes I have red the wiki howto built your own rpm's but can't really follow that.
I will try using srpms to make rpm's. Maybe that works.
