No, but gregswallow has compiled a 'howto' reflecting his experience with an upgrade of Charlies 7.0alpha. (which is based on Centos 3.4). http://no.longer.valid/phpwiki/index.php/SME7-Centos4
A word of warning, though.
I tried this twice on a fresh install of 7.0alpha, and each time the testserver stopped at 'Creating block devices' after reboot.
Probably a hardware-problem, but I'll stay with the 3.4 for now, and play around with that for the time being.
Come along - join the fun !

I don't see any bug reports from you about this problem.

No, Charlie, you don't.
Bug reports are for base installs, aren't they? I've often enough seen answers from you stating that for a fact. Contrib problems should be discussed with the contributor. You're right, too, I might add!
This was clearly an attempt to go beyond, copying gregswallow's experiment with an upgrade to Centos 4, as it were.
I can tell you this much if you're really interested:
The install rests on two Sata-drives (Raid1), one a 120Gb and the other a 160Gb.
Therefore I suspect a hardware problem, again nothing with which to bother you nor the 'bugwatchers'.
Perhaps I'll make another attempt when I can get my hands on a new 160Gb disk.
In the meantime I'll play around with 3.4 a bit.
I think gregswallow has come to that conclusion too, even though his experience differs from mine.
Greetings

Ah, sorry. I jumped in before reading carefully enough what you'd written.

I'd really appreciate it if you could test 7.0alpha a bit without applying any "updates". That'll help get it closer to being out the door.

I have used SME since e-smith 4.11.  I am not a programmer.  Just curious if this forum will merge with the SME 6.5 project?  Are they related?  I support using Centos, but it seems the contribs.org community is behind the 6.5 project.  I administer 7 SME 6.01-01 boxes which will need to be upgraded in the future....Is it wise to choose SME 7a over 6.5 at this point in development?
