Error: adding XP WS to SME 6.5 domain after domain removal
« on: August 02, 2005, 09:59:26 PM »
I recently crashed my SME server 6.01-01 and now installed a 6.5RC1 version of the SME server, in the server-gateway mode.

I restored my last backup made of the 6.01-01 configutation and everything looks OK on the outside: my webserver etc. is online and has internet access is alive and kicking as well.

However the workstation (Win XP SP2) which used to be a member of the domain before I crashed my server is not able to access my local domain anymore.

I already removed it from the domain and placed in to a workgroup. That worked out OK and XP stated that it needed to reboot to apply the changes... so I did.

But to my surprise I am not able to add the PC to the domain anymore (I get an access denied error when I enter the administrator credentials, they are correct as I verified them by logging in at the server it self).

I think I might have removed my local workstation from the domain with the network cable plugged out (Aargh... I thought this was not be possible... but it seems I am mistaken and it is possible) and that the changes therefore where not applied at the server configuration.

Is there a way to let the server know that this workstation is removed from the domain so I can add it again? Or is this not the source of the problem and is there a different reason? Please help me out!

Thanks!
