I've just installed phpBB 2.0.17 and am having a problem with getting its internal email working. If I try to register a new user for the board, It will only work if the user has an external email address on another domain including on our local Exchange server(and mail will be sent to those addresses without any problem). If I just use a name like user or user@localhost or user@localservername.domain when registering a new user it fails and tells me the address is not valid. I've tried the option of using the local server as the SMTP host but that doesn't seem to make any difference other than mail goes into the Qmail queues and just sits there. I don't want to have to set up external or Exchange mail accounts for anyone who wants to register for the board. This is all running on our internal network. This is my first encounter with PHPBB, apart from this mail issue, it's all working fine, am I being dumb and missing something obvious? Any advice would be most welcome.
