adding local hosts
« on: December 05, 2001, 12:52:32 AM »
We are trying to use this server as a secondary webmail server for students.  We have a trial setup behind our proxy/firewall on the private network.  It can send mail outside but does not recognize the other internal mail servers.  There is no place that I can find to specify our internal DNS server.  I went to the /etc/hosts file to attempt to add the other internal servers as I have on other Linux versions and was greeted with a message not to edit this file as it was generated by e-smith.

I looked at the templates and edited the the last one in the etc/e-smith/templates/hosts directory, but it seemed to have no effect.

Any suggestions???
