Perhaps the best contribution such people can make is to pay a competent developer to develop the feature that they most need. Imagine if a few hundred of the businesses which use SME server did that tomorrow?
Waouh ! I'm waiting for such a system for monthes !
I agree and aplause with my four hands (I include those that i use to code with).
I demand that we put, may be on this site, a sort of "contribs trade board" or "contrib exchange" :
Example :
=========
- I badly need a contrib, or an evolution of an existing one : I ask here for this job (rsync backup with management of different versions of backuped files), offering a price (400 U$). A developper (Darrel ?), can respond that he can do it, but for a little more. When an other pro offer to add something, the deal is done an we get an new contrib released under GPL, usable by all.
- same thing for a Cie (mine, for ex.) that want to go on a dev (Asterisk) but need more ressources ...
- and so on (poor lonesome dev looking for jobs) ...
It sounds good and it's an answer to the 'economic model' of GLP development.
No ?
