I have installed a new system with SME 5.0. Setup user accounts via Server Manager ok, installed RAV Anti-virus, installed twiggi 1.6.6.0, installed Stephen Nobles procmail rules addon. I have setup each user to use procmail for mail delivery. Everything is working great until I wanted to add another user to the system.
Now when I add a user to the system in the Server Manager I get
Software error:
Error occurred while creating user.
For help, please send mail to the webmaster (admin@haak.com.au), giving this error message and the time and date of the error.
When I go back to the Server Manager by clicking on User Accounts the account called "bob" appears there but is locked as per usual I then go to reset the password and get the following error.
Software error:
Failed to set Unix password for account bob.
For help, please send mail to the webmaster (admin@haak.com.au), giving this error message and the time and date of the error.
If I try to delete the user I get the following error.
Software error:
Error occurred while deleting user.
For help, please send mail to the webmaster (admin@haak.com.au), giving this error message and the time and date of the error.
The user account is no longer displayed in the User Accounts section of Server Manager. But if I try to add that user again i am told that the account already exists.
I can successfully add new users and set passwords by accessing the server manger via Lynx web browser from the shell startup manager.
I then load up the Server Manager via a windows broswer, the account is there and active. I can also delete the account from here without any errors.
/home/e-smith/accounts contains all the account information for all users on the system. For the users that I had the errors setting up and deleting still have entries in this file and I assume that because of these entries I cannot re-add these users back onto the system again.
Is is safe to edit this file and delete the entries for the incorrectly created/deleted users?
Will reinstalling SME Update 3 fix my problem so I can use the web based Server Manager again?
Anybody got any thoughts?
Regards
Craig
