Is it possible to create a user name with a space?
« on: April 01, 2006, 02:04:30 AM »
I have to implement a server for 27 XP PC's that all have user names in the form of "Dan Williams"
I need to give the users a hone directory and a shared directory.
The xp boxes and applications are highly csutomized and owners are not accepting setting up new user names on PC's to accomodate SME.

IS there a way to do this?
Any assistance greatly appreciated.
Dan

Unfortuanetely spaces are not allowd, underscores, dots and hyphens are, maybe you should have started using them. A username with a space is very rare.

Good luck, bringing this bad news to your users ;-)

You will have to change the users to the form of DanWilliams or similar.
You can copy the existing users local profiles on the XP boxes  to the new users profile names, so you won't loose the configuration contained in the profiles.
It shouldn't be too painful an exercise for you or your users.
