Step 6: Find sme-server crontab (or whatever the contrib is called) and using an ftp program (I recommend Filezilla) upload it to the admin home directory.
Step 7: in the putty ssh window type cd /home/e-smith/files/users/admin/home/
Step 8: in the putty window type rpm -Uvh NAME_OF_DOWNLOADED_FILE.rpm
Step 9: The easiest way to do this step is to restart your computer. There is a command to gracefully restart the services you need after installing the server addon but I can't remember it. You could do a search for 'restart httpd gracefully' in these forums, see what comes up.
Step 10: in the /home/e-smith/files/users/admin/home/ directory type
mkdir bin

I made it to step 9 this time. I cannot find anything related to "restart httpd gracefully" anywhere. I wanted to find that before doing steps 6 and 7 and getting the job half done.

I am not sure what you are trying to do with the restart gracefully command.

Thx in advance for your help.

It basically just restarts the httpd engine so the extra tab appears in the server-manager window.

I'm not sure if it is actually required.
I'll do a search when I get more time to see if it is required and what the line is.
Otherwise if the extra tab does not appear in the server-manager you can just restart the sme-server box instead.

Making real progress now.
I managed to get the crontab manager into SME Server Manager.
I set up the directories as required.
You mention copying the appropriate script, but there are several on the pages and at least 2 mentione zone edit. Would you please specify.

Thx in advance for your help.

Can't help you with the script, don't know what your needs are entirely.
Are you using Zoneedit, dyndns or another dynamic dns hoster?

I am trying to use zoneedit.

Once again, after a good night's sleep, is it possible to copy one of the scripts  that are the standards offered in SME and modify it?

Once again, thx for your help.

I was away for a bit but now have taken this up again.

If I understand this correctly I have to put the script into /sbin/e-smith/dynamic-dns/custom
and then run it using cron.

I can't find the directory /sbin/e-smith/dynamic-dns/custom. I can't even find one starting with sbin. Do I have to create it?

Thanks in advance for your help.
