Hope someone can help.

Installed Egroupware on a new SME 7 rc2 it works well over the LAN, but when it comes to access it over the WAN I keep getting 403 error Permission denied access errors.
But I can access the Primary Ibay website fine, from a remote location.

The Ibay is configured with these settings
Information bay name egroupware
Description
Group   Everyone
User access via file sharing or user ftp   Write = group, Read = everyone
Public access via web or anonymous ftp   Entire Internet (no password required)
Execution of dynamic content (CGI, PHP, SSI)   enabled

Both port 80 and 443 are portforwarded to the SME server from the hardware Firewall

You should have posted this in contribs section, this section is for SME server base.

You should read the post again.
If you notice I said there is no web access to other Ibays as well, Just the Primary site. So it's not a contrib problem as such but is definitely a SME problem. I have setup a website on an Ibay called test, placed a index.htm file in there, and it is still saying Http: error 403 Forbidden.

I did read your post again and nowhere (except for your last post) did  you mention that you had problems with anything else but  egroupware.

As far as egroupware, it also requires port 22, here is a part of article from techrepublic:

"eGroupWare requires that ports 80 (HTTP), 443 (HTTPS), and 22 (SSH) be open. Therefore, you must leave these ports open.
The ports listed above are just to make the software run. If you plan on using your eGroupWare Server for e-mail, you'll also have to open ports 25 (SMTP), 465 (SMTPS), 110 (POP3), 993 (IMAPS), 143 (IMAP), and 995 (POP3 over SSL)."

As far as not being able to read index.html from your test ibay, I will do some more research and see what I can find.

I am sorry,
In my 2nd post I had "this works for the Primary Website ok, but no other."
I should have explained more there.

and I do have ports 80, 443 and 22 forwarded to the SME box.
havn't worried about the other ports as yet, because I can't access any ibay yet.

Hi all I'm considering installing egroup as well on my SME box

Will SME 7 handle this without any additional packages ?

Please advise
Thanks

And would you please advise your recommendation for the install package, is there a rpm, or just follow the egroup instructions ?

Please advise thanks all.

OK, solved my problems with the ibay websites not being seen from the WAN, my drastic solution was to do a complete clean install.
Must have had some permissions problem that i couldn't find with the IBAYS.

reinstalled eGroupWare, as per the Howto, with the exception of creating the DB first using Step 11, because the automated process from eGroupWare doesn’t work.

Now to try and setup LDAP services, and the Outlook synchronisation.

Agent86
Just use the 2 packages from the Howto, it is all pretty straight forward.

Hi all

I'm attempting to go thru the how to's for installing egroupware on the SME server, which I have setup as a gatway/server version 7.XX

According to the how to:
Note : Unzip this two files in the same egroupware folder… (do a merge  !)

My conclusions
They do not extract to the same egroupware folder, since each file extraction attempts to write a folder called egroupware, and will overwrite the other ?

Please clarify what is meant by the statement from the how to's as listed above:

What I did:
So correct me if I"m wrong, but am I suppose to extract one which creates a egroupware folder, then extract the other to a different location/folder.
Then take the resulting files from one location and copy the files from one folder into the other egroupware folder ???  so that all files created are in the same egroupware folder ???

Assuming I am correct regarding the above listed topic, I'm on step 4 which states:
With PuTTY, create a connection on port 22 (SSH) with user root :

Download of PuTTY :    http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/x86/putty-0.58-installer.exe

From what I can tell PuTTy if for Windoze ?
What is PuTTy exactly and can another program work for this task ?

If I'm using linux do I even need this step ? also advise regarding port 22
as a gatway isn't this port already open ?

Please clarrify these topics

I'm trying to research this subject but am confused about this step. or if this applies to linx users as well.
