RC3 Installation (post install boot) failure on HP ML350T
« on: June 09, 2006, 04:32:16 AM »
I have successfully installed RC1 and prior builds on identical HP Proliant server models without a hitch, however this time I have tried to install RC2 and RC3 and after successful installation it will not boot.  For some reason it appears that the bootloader is not installing properly as it hangs looking for a boot sector or volume.

What can be done to isolate this issue?  I am quite disappointed as all previous builds have worked so successfully.

Is this a fresh install or an attempt at upgrading from rc1?

Well there was a huge amount of changes from rc1 to rc2 and just a few from rc2 to rc3.

You more than likely have a hardware issue that may or may not be fixable.

Go to the bug tracker and search there first.  There have been quite a few hardware related bugs and some have a fix or work-around.

If you can't resolve it with existing suggestions then raise a new bug and be prepared to be very specific about your exact hardware setup.  Not just make and model number but everything from memory, hard drives, nic cards, everything down to what kind of raid card is in it.

Then be prepared to supply every bit of information you can capture before the hang up.

Reporting issues to the bug tracker is the only way to get issues investigated and resolved.
