No VPN after change of Motherboard and 1 NIC
« on: July 12, 2006, 10:23:16 AM »
Hi, my sme 7rc3 runs fine on a PIII 500 but i wanted to upgrade to a AMD 1700+ with more memory

I made an image of the HD and moved all the components to the other Motherboard.

On this new motherboard there's an onboard NIC wich i disabled and i had some trouble getting it to work.
I changed 1 of the NIC's and reconfigured the server.

Everything works fine except for VPN. In the logfile is this...

Anyone????

Run the upgrade install from the CD (& make it 7.0 final too), that should install correct modules for AMD architecture.

Is it likely that this re-install will run smooth and quick?
Can i do that during lunch break or do i have to come back tonight?

The standard policy as stated by the developers is that upgrades from any developer (pre final) release are not supported or guaranteed.
Backup first to be sure if you have mission critical data.
In all probability RC3 will upgrade to 7.0 final without problems and on a AMD 1700+ should take 15 minutes or so.
I have done 2 myself on lesser hardware without problems.

LCP

Short for Link Control Protocol, a protocol that is part of the PPP. In PPP communications, both the sending and receiving devices send out LCP packets to determine specific information that will be required for the data transmission. The LCP checks the identity of the linked device and either accepts or rejects the peer device, determines the acceptable packet size for transmission, searches for errors in configuration and can terminate the link if the parameters are not satisfied. Data cannot be transmitted over the network until the LCP packet determines that the link is acceptable.

Could it be a client problem?

I was able once to make a connection and when i'm reading the above logfile right was that using CSLIP. A college of mine just told me that he was able to connect yesterday.

Yes everything is exactly the same.

Modem is speedtouch 605S with IP 10.0.0.138
External NIC has 10.0.0.150
Internal NIC has 172.16.10.9

Everything else works super!! Just VPN doesn't
