Topic: Too high password security

Greetings

SME is working right. I was going to try and add some users.

In the web interface.
Creating a test account. I got stuck in entering the password.

passwords I've tried are
* 7-8 charaters in lenght
* mix of letters and numbers with a dash of mixed case letters

But I couldnt get SME to accept them!

In despiration I ussued the command

passwd <username>

but in the web interface, it said it wasnt "activated" and cant login with those credentials.

I need help in..
* Is there a way to tone down the password strictness?
I think a dictionary check, and username not equals password might be sufficient
* And is there a way to manually "activate" the account via command line or something.

The SME7 FAQ's show how to change the password level or if you had looked there is a thread 10 below this one with the same question and the answer.

My appologies for not looking hard enough. And thank you very much for the pointer.

It will have more time devoted with SME now.

You only needed to add a special character or two & it would have worked eg &%$!*@ etc
Now I assume you have downgraded your security by having weak passwords which was not necessary to do.
