The work will all be remote -- we are based in Michigan & Florda, both are eastern time zone.

I just switched the web server over from 6.01 to 7.1 -- I was running a mambo page for the web site and now I set up Joomla -- anybody know if I can just sql export from mambo and import it into joomla?

I haven't tried that but those two systems are almost the same, templates work on either. Might try the joomla.org forum for a definite answer.
