Installing SME in VMware
« on: June 01, 2007, 05:42:42 PM »
Hey,

I am having no luck installing SME on my XP machine with VMworkstation 5.5 and 6.0, both versions have same problem.  The installation of SME gets to the cd check and then after that says "No hard drives have been found. You probably need to manually choose drivers for the installation to succeed".

Then i press NO and then it posts an error
"NameError: global name 'dispatch' is not defined"

I am not a guru by any means at linux but i figured that the SME would not need my computers chipset drivers as its in a VM, and would just detect the VMware partition.

Any ideas how to could fix this ?

You could do but there's nothing wrong with using SCSI, I use this all the time in my testing without any problems, you problem is likey to be wrong guest OS within VM

How big are your hard drives in your image?

4G and up should work.

Won't this cause with hardware which VMware doesn't "share" properly?
