Topic: The domain contrller cannot be contacted

I am using sme server 7.1 and it has been working fine until recently when I

try to join new computers to the domain and it didn't work. I can ping to the

server using an ip address and the name of the server. I can also get an

internet. When I try to join the domain it says the domain controller is not

available. Could you please help?

is your sme server the dns server for new computers?

Yes it is the DNS server for the new computers.

Windoze?  XP or Vista....

For XP there is the .reg key you need to install.  Have you done this?
Vista i haven't played with, but have read a number of discussions in this forum so a search might help.

It is windows xp. What is the .reg key? How is it installed?
