Topic: client seems to time out

just installed a fresh version of sme 7.3, i have configured it in server and gateway mode and am using the servers local network.

after about 5 or 10 mins of being on the internet or the server manager the browser will display the "could not find page" message, i disabled the connection and re enabled it and it works fine for another 5/10 mins..
i know its not my internet connection because i have tested it from a totally different external network and i can still view the web pages on my server.

When the server is completely new installed an extra reboot might help for diverse things. I would do this first.

If it then works for a time, as a gateway, and then dye out, I would try to find out why. - It has to have something to to with the network.

First I would have downloaded the putty client to be able to dp a remote ssh logon:

The gateway will also have to be set up via the /server-manager panel to accept a ssh logon.

Anyhow, from console or from remote console via network I would have typed "ifconfig eth0" and "ifconfig eth1" to se if both networksadapters are running correctely on the gateway.

Then I would tried to se if the gateway has a internet connnection by typing "ping www.bbc.co.uk"

thanks i have switched to my connection that's direct to the router and putty still times out, i pinged it from root and its fine, (although i cant get it to stop pinging)
ive tryed the reboot and still the same effect, it was doing it all the way though the update aswell.
im fine on this connection as i only need the other one to access the server manager and upload files even though i have allowed ftp and ssh from entire internet still times out or refuses connection.
