Hi all

Is this a valid syntax when manually putting an item in the black list.

*@*.tk

I've used per the wiki things like *@123.456.tk etc. but was wondering if this: *@*.tk would block any mail coming in from anything that ends with .tk ? or that domain extention. ?

I have also looked for an answer for this one and it does not seem to be documented anywhere. I did find another program that is using Horde/Ingo for it's filtering backend that suggested just tk (no wildcards, no @ and no .) would work. I don't know if you have a way to test this or not.

I am curious what all the Horde blacklist does? Does it only filter mail when checked through webmail? (like a filter list in a client such as outlook's junkmail)

Yes, all settings in webmail apply only to the webmail interface and functions are only ran for the user when logged in to the webmail interface. You are better of using the general blacklis settings that directly apply to the mailserver. Should be in the wiki or in the forums, there is a contrib by Darell May at least that should help you with that.

What is the valid syntax to block an entire toplevel domain in the blacklists that apply to all mail on the server?

and somewhat answered, However, the solution to that thread only works if the mail is actually coming from offshore server's IP addresses.

What if I am getting mail with a spoofed envelope address such as From: spoofed_user@spoofed_domain.tk ?  Is there a way to add *@*.tk to the badmailfrom blacklist?

This does help, even though I'm not positive about the *@*.tk topic or similar *@*.com I'm guessing would block anything that ended with .com so I should be able to easily test that out by simply sending my self some mail from my yahoo or hotmail account etc.

I read in the wiki for webmail / horde / blacklist that I could use the *@comcast.net etc. if i want my webmail account to blacklist all comcast.net incoming mail etc. But I was not sure about *@*.tk because I don't know if that blocks the whole .tk etc. But the syntax I think is different for a user/webmail/horde/blacklist then it is for the whole server settings.

I've read that wiki also and plan to impliment the newest blacklist as suggested in the wiki,however since I've been using the *@domain.com syntax in my webmail the spam is almost completely gone now, only about 1 or 2 spam mails a day now. It was getting up there at around like 20-40 spam mails, but I think I got it blocked now.

I use mostly webmail, cause I like the groupware sort of features with the file storage, and task list, and my contact manager could not be any better. I really can't complain about horde at all. I've been enjoying the reminder task feature as well.

I could probably just put *.tk and that might just work. I'll experiment with this some more and post back.
