Topic: proxy problems with xp

I have been running e-smith 4.1 for about 6 months and everything seems to be fine except that when I try to go on the internet using proxy server I get on OK unless e-smith is already connected, then I get a message saying that the dns cannot be resolved, if I then go into internet settings and uncheck roxy I get on. Then next time I try I have to recheck proxy server in the internet options if e-smith isn't already connected. I am running windows xp professional with internet explorer 6. Can any one tell me if this is a problem with e-smith ( I am reluctant to think it is) or is it xp? I never had a problem when I used windows 2000 pro, although I have also changed my dial up provider at the same time. I use BellSouth for my dial up access. Thanks in advanced
