That's probably the root of your problems. SME server is not designed to operate in a DMZ.

So would I be better to just forward all ports to SME rather than DMZ or is that still not on the recommended list?

At this point removing the RV042 isn't an option, though will be if I move in the next few months like I'm hoping too.  Than I could just connect the server to my ISP connection.

Why? AFAIK computers in a DMZ have only one connection to the net,
Don't know what you mean by only one connection to the net.

I'm really puzzled by this little challenge.  One of my systems is normally wirelessly connected to the network with it's IP statically assigned based on MAC in Hostnames and addresses.  no problem connecting wirelessly but fails to connect with ethernet connection.  The MAC for the ethernet connection is also established in the Hostnames and addresses.
