Does anybody know a windows application or script that could be used to check wether a user has any new mail when they logon in a pop-up window or something similar. Some of my users have been asking about the possibility of it.

Thanks!

Most Windows email clients can do this for you - for example, I use Eudora, and it puts an icon in the system tray when new mail has arrived. Outlook does the same sort of thing.

Netscape mail does this too, as do most other modern mail clients.  It's easy to set up Windows to play a specific audio file when new mail is received.

The incredibly useful CyberKit (ping, nslookup, NTP, traceroute, whois, etc. for Windows, all in one nice package) also has a mail checking feature (which as a Netscape user, I've never used), and there are many other mail notification tools out there: check out simtel.net/tucows.com/shareware.com/download.com to find them.Des

The Popcorn freeware email program is tiny, and could be dumped in the startup folder. Lots of other neat stuff at www.tinysoftware.org.
I'm off to find Cyberkit. Thanks Dub!!!

Outlook will do the same thing also if they use the webmail client and leave the window minimized it will give a pop-up when new mail arrives.

I use IMAP Notify (http://www.vandyke.com/download/imapnotify/index.html) for checking IMAP accounts. It's nice not having to keep Outlook open on our older, slower machines... Easy Notification (http://www.weberik.com/easynoti/index.php3) isn't perfect, but it's what I like best for my POP3 needs...

I think http://tinyapps.org/internet.html may be what Andy was referring to (tinysoftware.org doesn't work).
