RAV rpms' in installer
« on: June 03, 2002, 12:06:37 PM »
i was trying to integrate RAV rpm's (ravcore-8.3-1.i386, ravqmail-8.3-0.i386 and ravmd-8.3-1.i386) into the e-smith 5.0 installer. But it seems that its not getting installed properly coz i think ravmd starts and stops qmail service for proper starting of the service.

I also tried to install these rpms' after e-smith makes first reboot for configuration. But then also there seems to be some problem with tty's.

How can i make RAV installation seemless in installation?

Can you be a little more specific? What do the error messages say?

Have you tried browsing the internet for a howto on installing RAV?

there is no error message but  when i do rpmverify on ravmd-8.3-1.i386.com it says that "missing /etc/rc.d/init.d/rav".
I have read RAV HOWTO for installtion but that makes sure that e-smith is already installed, and this process is manual.

I wanted to automate this task within the installer only. So that RAV gets installed when e-smith is getting installed ( have tried entry in comps and regenerated hdlist file too, but of no use)

You might check out Darrell May's RAV & E-Smith how-to's at http://myezserver.com/downloads/mitel/contrib/rav-8.3.2/.  These won't necessarily do what you are trying to do (install RAV during E-Smith installation), but they might be of help.  You might contact Darrell May directly.  You'll find contact information by following the link above.

     Hope this helps
