I have not had time to research this properly but it looks pretty serious?

It might be, but that is for the far future.

Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than its worth ~ Baz Luhrmann - Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)

For another point of view, see:

FWIW, SME server uses mysql only for webmail preferences, and is not in any way threatened.

Maybe not worth much, but in the Mitel version, I have seen some Postgres and recently they have stated that they are going to use an IBM developed db.

Thier web proxy blade is pretty cool too. It allows access to other internal servers, beyond what proxypass does. If it wasn't for all my time hacking dhcp, I'd be using their multi subnet dhcp server option to provide host addresses in my network.

Being a strong supporter of SME. just want the devs to know what is happening elsewhere.
