Virtual PC & time keeping
« on: January 10, 2010, 07:49:38 AM »
I am running SME 7.4 in a MS Virtual PC Machine under Windows Server R2 64 bit, and time keeping in SME is non-existant.  (At 7.49 pm, 10 Jan it says 8.48 am 11 Jan.)

Manually running ntpdate au.pool.ntp.org, I get an NTP Socket is in use, exiting.

I have tried all the VM fixes, but to no avail.

Any suggestions gratefully received, thanks.

IMHO it's a M$ issue, so you should ask them ;-)

Its a general problem with VM's - VMWare has the same. I am currently using VmWare ESXi 4 and have after having installed Vmware tools had no issue. The NTP deamon has problem with the jitter it sees on the clock and therefore it fails.

FrancisT:

read here

anyway, I would suggest you to use virtualbox or vmware [server|player] to virtualize linux o.s.
