SARK SME and Aastra 57i
« on: January 24, 2010, 02:55:15 PM »
Hy

I'm using normally SARK on SME with Thomson ST2030 IP Phone.

How to registering 57i Aastra Phone and Provisionning the configuration.

I configuring the PBX with TFTP enabled, read complete admin and user docs, but nothing goes.

Need a specific Firmware, special config on sark ...

I config X-lite phone, it's OK, but my first 57i, isn't

If somebody have a idea

Thanks

If the Aastra is getting it's IP from the SARK box (DHCP), on the extensions-page you can adopt the phone. Then edit the adopted phone extension and you'll find a provisioning field for that specific phone. If you have more than one Aastra phone you can edit the aastra.cfg for setting general provisioning-options for all the Aastra phones.

No special firmware is necessary for the 57i on SARK but you should ensuire that you have the latest firmware from Aastra.  The 5xi firmware was pretty falkey in earlier releases.

The main problem for me is to flash this last firmware.

I try directly from the Web UI from the aastra, by FTP, HTTP and TFTP, but it doesn't work.

I'm using the TFTP server from the SME sark, and put the 57i.st file on /tftpboot/

Reboot the phone and follow TFTP session with Wireshark, but nothing action on UDP 69. I try after boot on Web UI, but the phone anwser me, that the file is not found...

I try with FTP session, give user and PWD, and put the 57i.st file at root of FTP session.
I try with HTTP session, give user and PWD, and put the 57i.st file at root of HTTP site.

Same anwser

I followed Jeffs instructions from the sark wiki to get our 1st 57i running using tftp and it worked perfectly first go straight out of the box.
Way easier than provisioning Linksys handsets...

From memory the only steps are to point the aastra to your SME box and to have the extension enabled for auto provisioning. Then I just renamed the firmware to whatever was stated in the aastra manual and it autoinstalled as the phone booted..

Although from memory the firmware file is in my primary ibays html folder...

Do you have the protocol and server set-up in your aastra.cfg or the provisioning field of the phone, like:
Code: [Select]
download protocol: TFTP
tftp server: $localip

Also maybe handy for automagically getting new firmware/config every night (if you plan to setup a lot of phones):
Code: [Select]
auto resync mode: 3
auto resync time: 23:30

I (vaguely) remember having such trouble with one phone. I believe i got it to work by setting the protocol to HTTP and placing the firmware file in: /home/e-smith/files/ibays/Primary/html/

Also found a comment in my notes about the permissions on the firmware file needing to be: 444

HTH.

edit: typo

If I remember correctly I just put the mac address of the phone into the ext setup and powered up the phone. DHCP and tftp did the rest.

I still cant get Linksys unit to auto provision like these. But I guess you get what you pay for...

W'll be revisiting the Linksys units shortly (they're getting near the top of the list).

Kind Regards
