Zarafa Question
« on: May 19, 2010, 05:08:17 PM »
So I got Zarafa working on my 8b5 box and it seems to work pretty well, although, I am puzzled by a few things.

1. When I try to go to or create a task, I get a little box in the bottom right that says Error 500. And that's is. It doesn't do anything in that area. If I click it a couple of times, it does go to it, but I cant add a task. None of the other areas present this error at all.

2. Also, its been a while since I have used Exchange on a regular basis, but aren't you supposed to be able to put documents and files in the public folders so others can share them? In my Outlook at work, we have pub folders and there are word documents and what not in there. However, on my SME network, we don't use Microsoft, but rather, the web interface and there is no option for uploading files. Also, in kmail, I can see the public folders, but it appears to be just a mail folder to store extra mail.

Is this by design or did I mess up in the install somewhere?

Thanks!

Joe

Hi, you should ask such a question into Zarafa's forums :-)

Ok, I can do that. Just trying to get a temperature here first seeing as the install method is hacked/scripted for SME server and is beta for our contribs. Didn't know if it was something that was missing in the scripts or something I could do first.

I will hit them up on their forums.

Thanks!

Joe

I have been using Zarafa in production on 7.X for a couple of years.  The tasks work fine in SME7 so there must be something in SME8 that is causing issues.  There has been very little testing of Zarafa on SME8 as far as I know.

AFAIK This only works from within Outlook with the outlook connnector.  You can drag and drop documents into Outlook and they are stored (or at least appear to be stored as documents) in Outlook.  When you look at these same documents in the Zarafa web interface, they appear as emails with attachments.

The install method is not "Hacked", it is a fine piece of work that is still under development.  I don't think the writer of smeserver-zarafa would appreciate his work being referred to as a "hack", please promptly apologize.

I apologize for the misunderstanding. I am an old Linux "Hacker" and did not mean to refer to anyone with disrespect. Please understand what I was referring to the good meaning of hacking :).

Thanks!

Ok, I see what you are saying. So, as a workaround, I can just create a draft with a document and save it in the folders.

Thanks for the assistance!
