Zarafa z-push and iPhone
« on: October 23, 2010, 11:51:38 AM »
Hi

I followed this: http://wiki.contribs.org/Zarafa

and it worked well. Everything installed without error and all components function as expected, except the mobile sync part. I know the documentation says that sync with iPhone works, but I would like to see some slightly more detailed setup instructions from the iPhone perspective if anybody has the time to share this.

I have an iPhone 3G with 4.1 software. When I create an email account profile in the device, should I select 'Exchange'?

Cheers

Yes, see
http://doc.zarafa.com/6.40/User_Manual/en-US/html/_setting_up_your_mobile_device.html

In future, please try looking in the obvious places a little more.

I would add that the right place to ask such a question is probably zarafa's forum (http://forums.zarafa.com/)

Thanks. Found what I needed in Mary's link.

Mary, please consider the differences between these two sentences in the context-less world of emails and forums:

Your approach: "In future, please try looking in the obvious places a little more."

An approach that makes me just want to come back and be friends: "Despite SME Server's unique approach to package management, the code of most packages, as well as their basic functionality remains largely unchanged. In most cases, you can find the answers as you would with any other distribution. Have a nice day.

PS: American's spell Synchronise as Synchronize, try varying your search."

Not sure of your point, I was courteous, polite & even provided the answer. I did not write the document I referred you to, so have no control over how they spell certain words.

I do know that Americans, British and most other people spell User Manual as User Manual, which is what I looked for when finding the answer for you. My point is that it (ie the User Manual) would have been the obvious place to look for whatever user query one had about any particular product and IIRC I found it in less than a minute or so, which I believed would have been easy for anyone to do, particularly if you are capable of using Zarafa and iPhones.
