Before putting in-place your efforts take a verification if this new fetchmail package fit to Your needs. I suppose no (from http://fetchmail.berlios.de/ FAQ - G5):

The second-most-requested feature for fetchmail, after content-based filtering, is the ability to have it remove messages from a maildrop after N days, typically to be used with the keep option. Several messaging programs with graphical user interface support this feature.
This feature is not yet implemented. It may be at a future date, spare time of developers permitting. For the time being, the contrib/ directory contains some unsupported tools that may help, namely mold-remover.py and delete-later.

So consider if Your time's value is greater than few AU $ (as I remember you get from them a lifetime support - you may contact them to get only the package of Your interest).
As a general consideration putting extra-compiled packages in Your server may not be a good idea: each update may rise You a new problem.

hi nicolatiana, your point of view is right, but I have read better http://www.dungog.net/wiki/Purchase and it's not so cheap as I have seen without attention!!!! they speak about a fee of 299 AU $ (for all their software not for a single one!!!) It's too much for my project.
