Obviously, the proxy should be enabled on SME.
Perhaps subject should be "for your disinformation" rather than "FYI".
Eventually after months of frustration I finally figured out that the issue was caused by HTTP Proxy.
So yes, you are right, I should not say anything and let people be frustrated for months trying to figure out the issue by themselves.
@calisun: Can you provide some info on your network? SME is obviously in server and gateway mode, correct? Was it upgraded from 7.X? If you check "Automatic proxy confguration" in IE (see some posts above), does it work?
