Adaptec1200A with for Red Hat Linux

Dear All
I have seen some reference at times to support for Adaptec products (or lack of support). I have just received a brand new Adaptec ATA RAID 1200A card which was shipped directly from USA to Australia.
In the handbook it now says that the operating systems supported now include Windows XP and Red Hat Linux with the proviso: "Note that for the most up to date information on Adaptec's support of Linux, documentation, or to download the latest drivers, see the Adaptec Web site at www.adaptec.com

I have an identical card purchased a few months ago which did not have specific reference to XP or Linux support

I'm not using this card in a sme box but thought the info may be useful.
Regards

Hi Ray,

Unless Adaptec decided to change it, the 1200A is based on the Highpoint 370A chip. The driver for the 370 was released at the Highpoint web site quite some time ago and it works with the 1200A.

Officially, if you did a search on Adaptecs support site at www.adaptec.com, the 1200A is still NOT supported under Linux.
