local usb backup problem
« on: August 09, 2014, 06:41:54 PM »
im wanting to move a sme 8 to sme 9 on new hardware.

Previously o have done this with affa.
I have connected an external usb 2tb drive and followed the howto in the wiki.
I can mount the drive when formatted as ext3 but the console will not see the removable drive.
I read that it should not be mounted so removed the mount point and tried again.

Then i reformatted as fat32 and connected it my windows machine and did a backup to desktop saving the tgz file to the drive.

On the new sme 9 machine i plugged in the usb drive at the restore from backup and again the console couldnt find the drive.

Any pointers please?

Ta

Hi can you post the link to the How To that you used, saves asking questions.

Use the backup function in the Console and then the option to restore a backup on the initial install of SME9
