Another Update 2 Failed Dependencies...
« on: September 01, 2002, 08:54:53 AM »
Hi

I have just tried to apply Update 2 to SME 5.5 update 1
I installed update 1 by the Blade - no problem

Then I tried to install Update 2 with the result below....  (the update 2 files were copied to a folder called Update2 in an i-bay.
.
.
[root@noah Update2]# rpm -U -v -h *.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
        e-smith-turba >= 0.20.2-01 is needed by SMEServer-5.5_Update2-10
        e-smith-viewlogfiles >= 1.0.6-01 is needed by SMEServer-5.5_Update2-10
[root@noah Update2]#

I am so new at this I nave never done an rpm update before so I don't really know what it is that I am looking at....

Do the .rpm's have to be somewhere special before I run the rpm -Uvh on them?

or

Is it because I have configured eSmith as Private Server only?

or what..

All suggestions welcome......

Regards

david

Try

rpm -Uvh --replacepkgs *.rpm
    /sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade
    /sbin/e-smith/signal-event reboot

OK....

For better or worse I forced the update by running it --nodeps........

The server reboots ok and still seems to do the things I need.   So far so good.

I notice during the boot-up messages the following....

migrate-imp-to-turba   [DISABLED]

Can someone please give me a tip on what this means, or point me in the direction of any doc's that will explain what this is and how it fits into the scheme of things.

Thanks in advance

David

Sure, a one word tip - "search". :-)

Tried that Charlie.....

I haven't been able to discover why it is disabled.  All the stuff to do with diald and other gateway bits are disabled so I guess that is because it is configured as a server only.

The most I can glean is that IMP is to do with the Webmail.  Since I don't use the Webmail yet, and nothing else I use seems broken I guess I don't have a problem.
