www hostname virtual domain?

Hi all,

I have searched through the forums, manual but need alittle help to understand
how e-smith can be used to point to a virtual domain.

I have an e-smith server.

It is configured with www.mydomain.com (made up!) as its domain.   Now www.mydomain.com the website is hosted on a shared server at isp.  The website
does resolve to an ip address  but another website loads when you put the ip address into a browser.  This I know is becuase the isp is using virtual hosts and is redirecting to the correct website after reading the header from the browser.

The problem I have at the moment is that when the users type in www.mydomain.com they get the construction page of the primary folder on the server.

I know this is because e-smith is handling DNS and it thinks that the real website for the domain is itself as its own domain is www.mydomain.com.

I know how to resolve this,  by pointing the www hostname to the ip address of the server hosting the live website.  The problem is that when I put the ip address of the server that hosts the website I get another website and not the website I want.

How can I get e-smith to not point to itself for the domain?

Is there any file I can edit to get to to resolve dns for all sites outside ?  Can I get the DNS server to not point to e-smith for the domain that is configured for e-smith ?

E-smith is currently the proxy server with a ADSL connection via a reuter.

Please help.  I have spent along time trying to find answers via the forum before resorting to posting a thread.

Thanks in advance for any help.
