just found this and it looks like a nice option for e-smith if it would work w/ it.  Sorry I have not put more time onto it, just wanted to share.

web email, WAP email to use cell phn for email, vacation message, misc. nice features.

The @Mail package has a restrictive license and cannot be bundled with the e-smith server and gateway.
