I just installed the latest version and when i try to remotely admin it trough the webbrowser nothing on the left shows up like tha manual has.  I have it set on dedicated server only.  What could be wrong?  And can it support Name based hosting?

Please see the FAQ on the developers' site:

In particular the second paragraph - login with user 'admin'.

No need to feel 'stupid' or 'silly'.  Lots of people are having the exact same problem, which tells me that there is a problem with the software, not with the people using it.

The next version will have a fix in it to prevent anyone from being able to login as 'root'.

Actually, if all you are looking for is a mail, ftp, web server and have no intentions of looking under the hood, you can use e-smith for years and still be 'new' at linux.  Done correctly, all you need to know is basic networking and how to use a web browser.  The goal behind e-smith is to provide a seamless introduction to linux, if you want to learn more ... its all under the covers just waiting for you :>

Hope you enjoy the product.

I'am currently running a NT Server w/ IIS 5.0.  Can this e-smith server support ASP?  And the name based hosting will it let me have it directly on the net trough a linksys router but http request will still be routed directly to the PC.  I have 1 static IP and want to do hosting with name based hosting trough my 1 IP.  Can i do it? and what till need to be confiquerd?  It looks like a nice clean setup for anything on this E-Smith Server.  And on the gateway thing that it has is it fast? i have used windows and NT based ones but compared to my Linksys router will it compare?
Thanks

The Linksys cable/dsl router works great.  I have the E-smith server setup as stand alone, not gateway.  I just went into the linksys router config and pointed port 80 at the e-smith server address and there I was.  My ISP (telocity) has my domain name pointed at my static IP address.  Haven't got much fancier than that.  As far as ASP pages go, there are commercial solutions which allow direct conversion and some opensource conversion tools.

Further to Steve's response, please check the FAQ:

It's a good idea to check the FAQ before posting a question - saves a lot of time :-)
