File Size for email attachments
« on: November 22, 2002, 05:47:28 PM »
I am using sme 5.1.2  and I am having a hard time allowing the server to receive large iles. Users are using pop3 and outlook. I looked at http://www.myezserver.com/downloads/mitel/howto/webmail-attachment-size-howto.html to increase the file size but this seems to only effect upload size if your using the webmail. Does anyone know how to increase file size that can be sent/recieved.

How large of files are we talking about?  Exactly what error messages are they getting?  I've never hit a limit with regular email(outlook/outlook express) and I'm using 5.1.2.

I dont think it has anything to do with the client..the mail server is bouncing the email back. someone tried to send me a file and they got message back saying 552 message exceeds maximum size.

I have more then enough disk space on the server and only have 4 users on the email server so I dont want to haeva  limit

If only you knew how to search the forums, not limiting yourself to 30 days.

Are you forwarding your emails to a pager? They limit file size on messages and will bounce back everything larger than the limit.

By the way.... are you sure the size limit is on your side?
since you said the other party is getting the "exeeds size limit" message, probably his outgoing mail service is limitted!
Never had a problem with attachement size since I remember (from e-smith 4.2 to sme5.5), if you have the deffault installation (what I assume from your posts) you should not have any troubles on "your side"
