Can anyone tell me if the following SME6.01 contribs are available and working without bugs on SME7?

Collaboration
Users

Quotas
Pseudonyms
Information bays
User vacations
Web Shares
dungog.net
Chroot FTP users

User Panel Access
Remote access
Local networks
Port forwarding
Administration
Firewall Management
Backup to workstation

Workgroup
Directory
Printers
Hostnames and addresses
Domains
E-mail
E-mail blocking
Spam Filter
Secure e-mail settings
Review configuration
Crontab Manager
Miscellaneous
Support and licensing
Create starter web site

I want to upgrade but not until I'm confident that I can install all of the contribs that I have on SME6.01 on to SME7 final and have them all work.

If someone has the links to the comparable contribs for SME7 it would be helpful as well since there is no plus script for SME7 as of yet.

Thanks in advance

These are part of the base

Create reinstallation disk

This is also part of the base but is in no longer supported in 7 and *should* be removed on an upgrade automatically.

Horde Admin Setup
Horde Admin Save

The above is from my horde3.0 script and *will* cause issues on an upgrade.  Check the bugzilla site, I have posted a script that you should be able to use to remove the horde 3 components adn be safe on an upgrade.  It's been posted for a while and I did test it way back and it worked for my test cases.  I'd suggest you install on a test server and verify this for yourself.

This is from Jesper's script and I believe there are provisions in place to obsolete the rpm's that were installed with this.

I have a lot of add-on contribs/scripts installed as well and I have certainly learned my lesson about installing software via scripts.  Never again for me.

Thanks for the reply JB

What was the problem with the scripts? I thought it made things pretty easy, but you must have a reason for not liking them now because I know you created quite a few of them that I used in the past.

Is there a php-mcrypt rpm available for SME7?

One problem with the scripts are that there is really no easy transition from them.  For example, in the horde scripts, I placed a lot of items in templates-custom, so when you upgrade, those templates-custom are not automatically removed and if you forget they are there, they will cause issues when the template is expanded.  For my script, this is easily remedied by renaming templates-custom before you upgrade.  This as also been stated in the fora many times for various other scripts.  But, some of the scripts place files in the templates directory so then you have to really search them out.  At least with an rpm, one can make the necessary changes, rebuild it, and redistribute without all the hassle.  At least that is what I have experienced.

One saving grace is that the devs did try to accomodate and work around or through a lot of the add-on rpms so that a seemless upgrade to sme 7 would be attainable.

My 2 cents,

JB

Ok, now I understand and thanks for the explaination JB.

Will YUM basically replace the script installers or am I out to lunch.
If contrbutors put their rpms in the YUM repo or have a YUM repo created just for contrbs, would this not facilitate the burden of issues regarding updates.
If the contribs are maintained and the rpms are updated with the overall system updates then this would be a good thing right? It could also centralize all SME contribs to one place.

Likely just a dumb thought but hey. :)

Thanks again
