Good day,

i used e-smith as my proxy server and so far i dont experience any problem at the moment, however i would like to activated the ACL or access control list in my proxy to restrict some site like porno, adult, sex....etc. can anybody help me with my inquiry.

try to use squidguard.... www.squidguard.org

or

edit your squid.conf and add this line

acl denysites urlpath_regex -i "/path/to/denysites.txt"
http_access deny denysites

in denysites.txt you should place  the sites you want to deny.
porno
adultsex
maniac
xxx
playboy
etc.... depends on the sites you know

I have just successfully implemented DansGuardian from www.dansguardian.org and it works ok for me.

unfiortunately I cannot get it to start up with my server so what I do is start it manually (advice would be good here guys)

Just remember that Dansguardian blocks nothing at first and you have to edit the dansguardian.conf file, be careful here because some of the .include files don't exist and if you uncomment them the app will not start properly.  Changes to the .conf dont happen until you re-start the service.

The site also has email filtering but I cannot get that to work unfortunately
